Create a Virtual Machine
Click on “Create a New Virtual Machine”
Use the installer disc for Oracle Enterprise Linux.
Browse to file:
Enterprise-R5-U5-Server-x86_64-dvd.iso
Hit “Enter” to run the install program
Choose English
Click the “Review and modify partitioning layout” box and then “Next”
Edit the boot partition of dev/sda1 and set it to “150MB”, “Fixed size” and then click OK
Click Next
Set IP address setting, click Next
Accept Map
The password is “Pa$$w0rd”
Click Next
Click Next to begin installing
Let the installer run and then Reboot
Let Enterprise Linux reboot and click “Forward”
Agree to the License Agreement
Disable the Firewall and click “Forward”. Click “Yes” to the warning screen
SELinux setting should be “Disabled”. Click “Yes” to the warning.
Click Forward on the KDump screen
Accept the default Date and Time
Create a default user. Password is “Pa$$w0rd”
Accept the default sound card
Click “Finish”. Then click “OK” to reboot.
If you see login screen on reboot, then Enterprise Linux has been installed. Click the “I Finished Installing” button.
Installing VMWare Tools
Login as root and click on the top menu VIRTUAL MACHINE and the INSTALL VMWARE TOOLS. VMWARE will mount the VMWare Tools disk and the VM Tools window will appear.
Open a Terrminal window by clicking APPLICATIONS, then ACCESSORIES, the TERMINAL
# cd /media/VMware\ Tools/
# mkdir /vmtools
# cp VMwareTools-8.4.4-301548.tar.gz /vmtools/
# cd /vmtools/
# tar xvf VMwareTools-8.4.4-301548.tar.gz
